Westerville City Schools’ Summer Enrichment Theatre program is bringing “SpongeBob The Musical” to the stage. After casting that was open to all Westerville middle and high school students, the summer production will be presented July 19-21 at Westerville North High School.
Set in the undersea world of “SpongeBob SquarePants,” the musical follows SpongeBob and his friends Patrick, Sandy, Squidward and others come together to save their town from impending doom.
Matt Wolfe, who heads the theatre program at Westerville South High School and serves as the director of the summer enrichment theatre program, is excited to take audiences to the pineapple under the sea.
“After a couple years of high school stories, we wanted to reach out to a family-friendly, good-for-all-ages show that utilizes imagination and creativity to tell a story,” he said. Students who participate in the summer enrichment theatre program can earn a .25 elective credit in Theatre Production.
