The W Files, a new walking and storytelling tour in historic Uptown Westerville, will debut Saturday, July 12.

With ‘W’ standing for Westerville, The W Files tour “unlocks the hidden, quirky and surprising stories” of the city’s historic business district.

It is a 45-minute walking tour, beginning and ending at the Westerville Public Library, 126 S. State St.

You may even doubt some of the tour’s rich and colorful stories of Uptown history, but as Mulder and Scully said, “The truth is out there.” The W Files promises Westerville residents, “You won’t believe what happened here!”

Researched and presented by local performing artist Heather Schultz, the stories were compiled with the help of the Local History Museum at the Westerville Public Library.

Schultz, past president of The Curtain Players, has an accomplished four-decade history as a teacher, actor and director in the performing arts world. She brings history to life through performance, blending education and entertainment in captivating ways.

Uptown walking tour fans may already be familiar with Schultz’ work. She’s previously served as a lead in Uptown Westerville Inc.’s Ghost Tours, as part of the Good Medicine Productions team.

The W Files will be presented beginning Saturday, July 12, then Friday and Saturday July 18-19; and Thursday, Friday and Saturday Aug. 7-9, Aug. 14-16, and Aug 28-30. Thursday and Saturday shows only Aug. 21, 23.

The tour takes place beginning at 7 p.m. on offered Thursdays and Fridays, and at 6:30 and 8 p.m. on offered Saturdays.
