Community invited to activity-filled August Fourth Friday Aug. 25
Historic Uptown Westerville will be a hive of activity tomorrow evening as entertainers, merchants, restaurants and popup vendors take over State Street for the city’s free monthly street festival.
The August Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Fourth Friday Festival will take place across Uptown from 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, Aug. 25. Fourth Friday festivals are staged from April through October by Uptown Westerville Inc.
SWAGG will be the August featured band, performing at the City Hall stage, 21 S. State St. The performance begins at 6:30 p.m.
KaTanya Brewer is performing at Arts Alley, hosted by the Arts Council of Westerville in the lot by FUSIAN and Fattey Beer Company, 79 S. State St. The Arts Council will have art activities for kids.
Otterbein STEM students and local scientist Jack Brown will set up Science Street (West Main Street) with fun and interactive science activities, including:

- a compass
- a battery
- an electromagnet
- an electric motor
- a generator
and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology activities.
Westerville BMX will set up across from the Columbus Running Company, 50 N. State St., with a bike display, also DJ Matt will be there to spin for a teen dance party.
Travel down to 30 East College and visit the Think, Pray, Love House. Meet members of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and enjoy free BBQ, popcorn, music, kids’ activities, and a door prize.
Meet Everbowl, a new “craft superfood” bowls and smoothies business opening in September at 15 N. State St., the former location of Shirley’s Popcorn. Everbowl crafts its bowls and smoothies from açaí, dragon fruit, mango, and more. Co-owners Josh Smith and Zach Dimmitt will have a tent set up in front of the new business Aug. 24 with about 10 of the local staff members they have hired. They’ll be giving away coffee cups, coupons, balloons and water, and will have an airbrush tattoo artist and balloon artist on hand to entertain young families.
Celebrate Generations Performing Art Center’s 25th Anniversary in front of the studio at 31 W. College Ave., with inflatables, a dunk tank and other activities.
Stop by the CoHatch Westerville booth, which will offer information on their location soon open near Uptown in the former Westerville Armory at 240 S. State St.
Basketball activities at Park Street, adjacent to Hanby Elementary School, 56 S. State St., will be set up and led by our friends at Oasis City Church.
Additional free parking will be available at Cornerstone Community Church, 233 S. State St.
The event runs from 6-9 p.m. all along State Street, between Walnut Street on the south and and Home Street on the north, along with the first blocks East and West College Avenue and Main Street. State Street is closed to vehicular traffic during the festival.
