What a Memorial Day weekend lies ahead in Westerville! The highlights:

Fourth Friday returns for 2025

Make Uptown your destination as Westerville closes down State Street and invites the community to historic Uptown Westerville for the Fourth Friday festivals, presented by Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital.

Fourth Friday’s May-through-October 2025 run begins tomorrow, May 23.

Gather to enjoy a summer concert series on the lawn of Hanby School, catch the roving entertainment, and visit the food trucks, pop-up vendors, and your favorite Uptown Westerville restaurants and retail shopping.

Adults can take advantage of Uptown’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, and stroll about with adult beverages sold by several Uptown establishments.

A few more details about the May 23 Fourth Friday:

Live music

The band Bourbon Legend will headline the live music at Fourth Friday with a performance from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on the front lawn of Hanby School, 56 S. State St. (The entire Fourth Friday Summer Music Series this year moves to Hanby from Westerville City Hall, due to construction of the City Hall expansion.)

Don’t miss the “High-energy Americana & folk-infused” performance from Bourbon Legend, as we begin the Westerville street festival’s 2025 run.

Bike parking behind Los Altos

Pedal to Fourth Friday and into the weekend with style!

Science Street returns

fourthScience Street will be back at Uptown’s Fourth Friday street festivals in 2025, on East College Avenue, with its engaging, hands-on, STEAM-focused demonstrations and activities. (STEAM education = Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics.)

Westerville scientist Jack Brown will wow the kids with a different presentation each month; in May, it will be “Surgical Technologies-Hands-on Training for All Ages”; And COSI will be on hand with its mobile exhibit for each Mount Carmel St. Ann’s 4th Friday exhibit of 2025.

Science Street is sponsored by The Westerville Fund.

Professional entertainment

Professional, engaging entertainment always is part of UWI’s Fourth Fridays, too.

Find DJ Matt Ryan of Mobile DJ Entertainment spinning music and emceeing games geared for young people at Uptown’s Rotary Park — the pocket park located at the southeast corner of State and Home streets, adjacent to the Columbus Running Company, 50 N. State St.

Balloon artists Bob Simpson also will be on hand at the May 23 Fourth Friday, wowing kids and adults alike with his creations and vaudeville-style comedic talents.

Animals at the Library

Back by popular demand, the Westerville Public Library, 124 S. State St., will host “Animals at the Library” on its front lawn May 23.

Animal visitors will include sheep, goats, ducks, turkeys, rabbits and even a mini pig. Presented by Bring the Farm to You.

Stop by the Westerville Public Library during UWI’s May Fourth Friday celebration May 23 to to see, touch and learn about a variety of farm animals for a live barnyard experience.
